Full Time Undergraduate Study
BA in Theology : Diploma Year
As well as being the second year of the BA in Theology, this year can act as a Diploma in Higher Education awarded by the University of Manchester.
The Diploma in Theology is a 120 credit point course of study, entry into which is normally through the completion of the Certificate in Theology, and which represents a further year of full-time study (or its equivalent). Students complete a core of 3 units of 20 credit points and 3 units of 10 credit points each, plus a further 30 credit points of elective units. In addition to the units listed, all students complete a programme in Study Skills in semester 1 so as to enable the production of assigned work.

Teaching and Assessments
The course includes a number of mission placement activities, including week-long placements for evangelism options, and up to 20 days of mission or placement – again some College-based but some external, giving ample opportunity for Diploma students to exercise leadership and special missions or placements associated with the chosen option unit. In this way, Diploma students share in the delivery of an overall evangelistic strategy of the College alongside the Director of Evangelism and Evangelistic staff. Skills workshops are led principally by the College Evangelistic staff. These provide a ‘safe environment’ for students to develop skills and eliminate basic mistakes. Built into the missions are times for daily reflection and evaluation of the processes of mission. Assessment is based on elements of performance on mission, reflection on mission activities, and making good connections between what is taught and what is done on mission.
Students develop a portfolio of mission placement experiences built up from both College missions and external mission experiences.
Assessment methods include essays, journals and portfolios and encourage students to build links between different areas of study.
