BA (Hons) in Children’s and Youth Ministry

Launched in 2007 the new BA (Hons) degree course is a two year, part time undergraduate course which aims to further extend the training of children’s and youth workers by building on the CEN & YMM courses.

A part-taught, part-researched course, the teaching is offered via five week long residential teaching units spread over the 2 years (3 in year 1, 2 in year 2), supported by supervised distance learning. The course is assessed via a variety of assignments ending with a dissertation of their own choosing. Youth work practice will be assessed via on-going Placement supervision and students will be supported by Ministry Mentors as well as Personal Tutors. Students will need to have contact with young people for at least 100 hours per year.

The teaching units include:

  • Cultural Perspectives on Christian mission
  • Christian Education and Formation
  • Management of self and work
  • Childhood and Adolescence
  • Christian service and ministry

The Course Director is Ian White MA, PG Dip, Course Leader Sharon Prior, and lecturers are drawn from the CEN & YMM courses, Cliff College academic staff and various Christian children’s and youth work agencies.

Numbers will be limited to 15 students per year. If you are interested in this exciting opportunity, then contact Rosie Bourne, Undergraduate Administrator, Cliff College, Calver, Hope Valley, S32 3XG (01246 584202), undergrad@cliffcollege.org for a hard copy prospectus and application form.
